Ana Rosa

The house, long vacant and in a state of ruin, originally comprised a single ground floor with three rooms and an attic, dating from 1945.

The client, who had a strong emotional connection to the property once inhabited by her mother, Ana Rosa, had only one request: that the new home should still evoke the image of her grandmother’s house.

The original footprint of 27 m² was retained, as was the main façade, characterised by a small window and an entrance door. The composition of the façade was preserved, and an additional floor was introduced, resulting in a narrow, vertical volume. A large window on the upper level establishes a visual link between the existing structure and the new extension.

The house follows the natural slope of the site, unfolding across four distinct levels. These levels define the main functional areas: the front courtyard and entrance access, the entry and wet areas, the staircase leading to the first floor, and the living room, which can be extended towards the rear courtyard.

On the upper floor are the bedrooms, compact yet functional, with abundant natural light enhancing both the sense of space and overall comfort.
